Europe ends higher with COVID-19 in focus
European markets closed higher on Friday as focus remained on the coronavirus pandemic. During the day, officials in Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom and Russia said that they are planning to new measures to curb the spread of COVID-19, but investors remained certain that March-like restrictions would not be reintroduced.
The FTSE 100 ended 0.65% in the green, with Rolls-Roye stocks surging 12.85%. The DAX was up 0.07% as Delivery Hero gained 3.67%. The CAC 40 increased 0.71%, with Orange gaining 3.03%.
The euro jumped 0.53% to 1.18224 against the dollar at 5:35 pm CET and the pound jumped 0.59% against the dollar at 5:36 pm CET to go for 1.30132.
