Europe opens higher with oil, earnings, data in focus
European markets opened – on Thursday as oil rebounded following sharp declines earlier in the week. Investors also awaited preliminary PMI data and digested corporate earnings from Credit Suisse, Renault and Unilever. Meanwhile, Gfk said that German consumer confidence plunged to a record low due to coronavirus lockdowns.
The FTSE 100 added 0.19% at 9:02 am CET. The best performer was Meggitt whose shares soared 5.87% at 9:04 am CET.
The DAX rose 0.32% at 9:03 am CET with Wirecard surging 4.86% at 9:06 am CET.
The CAC 40 climbed 0.84% at 9:02 am CET. Worldline led the gains as it rallied 4.47% at 9:03 am CET.
The euro dipped 0.07% against the dollar to sell for 1.08160 at 9:06 am CET, while the pound gained 0.07% compared to the greenback to go for 1.23414 at 9:07 am CET.
