Eurozone GDP up by 2.2% in Q3
The seasonally adjusted gross domestic product (GDP) in the euro area surpassed the estimates and expanded by 2.2% in the third quarter of the year when compared to the previous three-month period, Eurostat’s preliminary flash estimate revealed on Friday.
At the same time, the GDP of the European Union recorded quarterly growth of 2.1%. On a yearly basis, the euro area’s GDP went up by 3.7%, while the EU’s reading stood 3.9% higher compared to the third quarter of 2020.
Austria recorded the biggest increase with its GPD advancing by 3.3%, followed by France and Portugal. Meanwhile, the GDP gauge showed a 0.3% uptick in Latvia, while Lithuania was the only EU member country whose GDP remained unchanged.
