Extended ‘Troika’ reaches peaceful deal in Afghanistan
Extended “Troika” summit, comprising of representatives from the United States, Russia, China and Pakistan held a final meeting on Friday in Doha, Qatar to reach an agreement on intra-Afghan negotiations and a permanent ceasefire.
The meeting was also joined by representatives of Afghanistan and the Taliban. All participants found common grounds and agreed on the importance of a “negotiated political settlement through an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned process”.
The joint statement also said that the Taliban is set to fulfill its counterterrorism commitments and prevent terrorist groups from any activity on Afghan soil, including threatening the security of any other country.
