Fed’s Kaplan: Delta strain is big ‘imponderable’
Dallas Federal Reserve President Robert Kaplan asserted on Friday that his views on the monetary response to the COVID-19 crisis could change depending on the impact that the Delta variant proves to have on the economic recovery.
During an interview with Fox Business, he called the virus strain the “big imponderable,” adding that the variant has negatively affected the production output in the United States.
On August 11, Kaplan forecasted the pull-back of the pace of Fed’s monthly bond purchases could be announced in September and may start as early as October.
