Fed’s Williams: Optimistic about overall economy
New York Federal Reserve Bank President John Williams said on Tuesday that he is “optimistic” about the overall economy due to increased coronavirus vaccinations and additional fiscal stimulus from Congress.
Furthermore, Williams stated he expects low interest rates to help spur economic recovery, but fiscal stimulus is also essential for achieving full recovery.
Earlier this month, he said that the timing of the Federal Reserve’s next rate hike will depend on the performance of the economy.
