France not planning to halt use of AstraZeneca jab
French Health Minister Olivier Veran said on Thursday the country is not planning to suspend the use of AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine amid reports of blood clots in people who received the jab.
“The benefits of the AstraZeneca vaccine are considered higher than the risks at this point,” Veran stated during a press briefing.
Earlier, Denmark, Iceland and Norway halted the use of the vaccine, while Italy and Austria each suspended one batch of the jab over blood clot concerns. Meanwhile, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) announced launched an investigation into reports of “thromboembolic events” among the inoculated.
