German CPI at -0.2% YoY in October
Consumer prices in Germany in October went down by -0.2% in comparison to the same period last year, according to the report published by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) on Thursday. Compared to September, the figure rose by 0.1%.
The harmonized index stood at -0.5% year-on-year and at 0.0% month-on-month.
The prices of goods decreased by 1.5% on a monthly basis, mostly due to a drop of 6.8% in fees for energy products. On an annual level, the prices of heating oil and motor fuels declined by 37.2% and 10.7%, respectively. On the other hand, the fees for food increased by 1.4% year-on-year. Fruit and meat and meat products saw a significant rise in prices of 3.8% and 4.1%, respectively.
