German unemployment rate at 6.2% in June
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Germany stood at 6.2% in June, Bundesagentur fuer Arbeit said in a report released on Wednesday. The figure marks an increase of 0.1 percentage points from the previous month but is still lower than analysts had expected.
The number of unemployed German residents climbed by 40,000 on a monthly and by 637,000 on an annual basis to reach 2.85 million in June.
Meanwhile, underemployment, which also includes people in relieving labor market policies and short-term incapacity for work, stood at 3.6 million, climbing by 439,000 year on year.
