Germany’s COVID-19 cases surge 6K to nearly 20K
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases topped 19,800, jumping by nearly 6,000 in the past 24 hours in Germany as of 7 pm CET, according to the German health officials. The country marked the biggest increase in COVID-19 infections so far.
Meanwhile, the number of fatal outcomes from COVID-19 rose by 18 to reach 60 nationwide. The figure was up by 42.8% compared to yesterday’s numbers, marking the steepest daily jump since the beginning of the outbreak, while the death rate stood at 0.3%. A total of 180 people have successfully recovered from coronavirus.
The Robert Koch Institute currently assesses the overall risk to the health of the German population as high.
