Germany’s Habeck: Nord Stream 2 geopolitical error
German Vice-Chancellor Robert Habeck (pictured) described on Saturday the Nord Stream 2 pipeline as a “geopolitical mistake,” particularly as all the members of the European Union, apart from his country and Austria, were against building it.
“Now the pipeline has been built. It is unclear whether it will be able to start operating,” he told Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. “On this issue, a decision must be made in accordance with European and national legislation.”
Habeck’s comments come following the report Chancellor Olaf Scholz is considering ending the project. Meanwhile, the German Foreign Ministry stated the pipeline will not start operating before it receives authorization for that.
