GfK: UK consumer confidence up in March
Consumer confidence in the United Kingdom increased to -16 in March from -23 in February, GfK reported in a survey on Friday. The figure was higher than expected, with forecasts putting it at around -20.
The improvement in the Consumer Confidence indicator marked the highest point since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. The rise in confidence was largely attributed to the successful rollout of the coronavirus vaccine in the country, which increased hopes of easing lockdown restrictions.
