Google buys $1B office building in central London
Tech giant Google spent $1 billion to acquire a central London building, with plans of a multi-million-pound refurbishment of the office, located within the Central Saint Giles development.
“We have been privileged to operate in the UK for nearly 20 years, and our purchase of the Central Saint Giles development reflects our continued commitment to the country’s growth and success,” said Ruth Porat, CFO of Google’s parent company, Alphabet.
Google plans to restructure the building in order to adapt it for in-person teamwork and design meeting rooms for hybrid working. Google stated it would eventually have the capacity for 10,000 workers at its UK sites, including an ongoing development in the nearby King’s Cross area.
