Google closes its Health division – report
Google Health will no longer function as a unified division as the tech giant reorganizes its units into separate projects, Business Insider reported on Friday citing sources familiar with the matter.
The head of the division, David Feinberg, will leave his post for Cerner Corporation. According to reports, Google Health struggled following a controversial deal with a hospital company Ascension, which subsequently drew away a number of major contracts.
“Google deeply believes in the power of technology to improve health and wellness and we have increased our health investments across the company. […] Today, health is a growing, company-wide effort and the Google Health name will continue and encompass our projects that share the common purpose to improve global health outcomes,” the company’s spokesperson said.
