Harley-Davidson to cut salaries, freeze hiring due to COVID-19
Harley-Davidson Inc. announced on Wednesday it plans to introduce some restrictive measures in order to curb the impact of COVID-19 on its business.
In a press release, the legendary motorcycle manufacturer said it is going to implement a temporary reduction of salaries: a 30% reduction for executive leadership and a 10%-20% reduction for other salaried employees in the United States. In addition, the Milwaukee-based company announced a hiring freeze for the time being.
The company’s acting president and CEO Jochen Zeitz, as well as members of the company’s board, have decided to forgo their salaries, as well as compensations they are entitled to. “The effects of COVID-19 on economies around the world have been swift and unprecedented. It is essential for us to respond quickly, adapt and position the company to manage near-term challenges,” Zeitz stated.
