Health Canada confirms AstraZeneca shot is safe
Health Canada has confirmed that the coronavirus vaccine made by AstraZeneca has not been associated with an increase in the overall risk of blood clots. It added that “the benefits of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine continue to outweigh the risks, and encourages Canadians to get immunized with any of the COVID-19 vaccines that are authorized in Canada.”
The regulator noted that there has been one report of a stroke that occurred after vaccination in Canada, but it was determined not to be related to the vaccine. Health Canada stated that it will continue to monitor the use of all COVID-19 vaccines closely. On Thursday, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) released their findings and confirmed the safety of the shot.
