Hospitalizations plummet after Pfizer, AstraZeneca vaccines – study
Hospital admissions are reduced considerably by the fourth week after the first dose of Pfizer/BioNTech and AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccines, PA Media reported, citing a study. The drop in hospitalizations in Scotland was calculated to be up to 85% and 94% respectively.
The study was carried out by Scientists from the University of Edinburgh, the University of Strathclyde and Public Health Scotland. “These results are very encouraging and have given us great reasons to be optimistic for the future. We now have national evidence – across an entire country – that vaccination provides protection against Covid-19 hospitalizations,” said Aziz Sheikh, lead researcher of the study and director of the University of Edinburgh’s Usher Institute.
