Huawei invests in Chinese electric vehicle start-up
Huawei invested in Suzhou Oriental Semiconductor Co. in a step that could help the Chinese technology giant develop electric vehicles (EV), the Global Times reported on Sunday, citing data from corporate database Tianyancha.
Suzhou Oriental Semiconductor, which is often abbreviated to Oriental Semi, develops medium-speech and neighborhood electric vehicle (NEV) technology as well as solar photovoltaic (PV) systems.
In June, Chinese media reports suggested Huawei had signed a strategic partnership with Chinese BYD to integrate Huawei’s HiSilicon’s Kirin chip into cars.
