IMF’s Georgieva calls for cooperation among G20 countries
International cooperation is the key to counteracting the negative effects caused by coronavirus pandemic, International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva (pictured) asserted on Saturday.
Speaking at a G20 virtual meeting, Georgieva said: “While there remains great uncertainty on the outlook, the unprecedented actions taken by the G20 countries and others have helped to avert a much worse outcome. As we enter the next phase of the crisis, further policy action will be required, as well as increased international cooperation.”
At the same meeting, she reiterated the importance of green recovery and stressed the need to urgently support the poorer economies, especially those with high debt.
