India stresses importance of maintaining oil prices at ‘reasonable level’
India’s Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri (pictured) stated that he stressed to the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) the importance of maintaining oil prices at reasonable levels.
Puri said that such measures are needed in order to facilitate global economic recovery and orderly energy transition, adding that the “cost for energy shouldn’t outstrip the paying capacity of consumers.” Moreover, he urged OPEC to address the price anomalies on Asian Premium oil.
Lastly, Puri noted that both India and OPEC agreed to work closely together for long-term “prosperity and sustainability of the global oil and energy market” through constructive dialogue and flexible cooperation.
