India’s COVID-19 death toll rises to 54,849

India’s Health and Family Welfare Ministry said the number of active COVID-19 infections stood at 692,028 on Friday.

The country’s coronavirus death toll increased to 54,849 after health authorities confirmed 983 additional virus-related fatalities during the day.

The number of discharged patients stood at 2,158,946.
