Industrial production in Germany down 1.1% in September
Industrial production in Germany missed estimates and decreased by 1.1% on a monthly basis in September, the country’s Federal Statistical Office Destatis said in a provisional report published on Friday. Compared to September 2020, the figure was down 1%.
Excluding energy and construction, production in industry slid 1.5%, while the production of capital goods dipped 2.8%. Consumer goods increased slightly, rising 0.2% on a monthly level, while intermediate goods production lost 1.1%.
Seasonally adjusted industrial production was 9.5% below the level observed in February 2020, when the first COVID-19 lockdowns were introduced, the report explained.
