Iran accuses Israel of aggression in Jerusalem riots
Iranian Foreign Ministry accused the Israeli government on Saturday of aggressive moves towards the Muslim population of Jerusalem during the previous night riots.
The ministry condemned the actions of the country, stating that there was a “dire need for international communities moves aimed at ending the anti-human rights acts of Israel against the defenseless Palestinians, and the holy sites.” Moreover, the statement also noted that in its view the only way to solve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict was through the “holding of a referendum among all the residents” of the countries.
Iran’s comments come in the wake of Israel’s prime minister calling for calm in Jerusalem, with reports stating that more than 100 Palestinians were hurt in the riots so far. Relations between the two countries have become tenser lately, with Iran accusing Isreal of sabotaging its nuclear facility and Israel opposing the lifting of sanctions imposed by the United States on Iran.
