Irish FM: UK making Brexit deal more difficult
Irish Foreign Minister Simon Coveney (pictured) accused on Tuesday the United Kingdom of making “already very complex” trade negotiations with the European Union “even more difficult” by threatening it would overrule parts of the Withdrawal Agreement and pass the Internal Market Bill.
“People have been very taken aback by the deliberate strategy coming from the British government. This is very damaging to Britain’s reputation outside the bubble of Brexit discussions,” Coveney said. “Of course, if the legislation continues, there will be a legal response from the EU, I expect.”
Earlier in the day, it was reported the negotiations were going “a bit better than expected,” with the bloc preparing for the possibility of a no-deal Brexit.
