Italy to lock down Lombardy due to COVID-19
The Italian government said on Saturday it plans to close all entering and exiting spots of Lombardy due to rapidly spreading COVID-19. Movements within the region will be allowed only for “non-deferrable” business or health reasons.
Lombardy has a population of 10 million and the country’s government said to lockdown 11 more provinces for travel, including Modena, Parma, Piacenza, Reggio nell’Emilia, Rimini, Pesaro and Urbino, Venice, Padua, Treviso, Asti and Alessandria.
According to the latest information, there are at least 5,883 confirmed cases in Italy and at least 233 deaths. 589 people have reportedly recovered.
