Italian Economy Minister Roberto Gualtieri said that the country’s economy is set to “strongly rebound” in the second part of the year following a sharp contraction amid the coronavirus lockdown.
“We expect a strong rebound of gross domestic product already in the third quarter and a significant growth in 2021,” Gualtieri stated as cited by La Repubblica. According to the minister, the recovery will be supported by the government’s stimulus, as well as gradual reopening of businesses.
Earlier, Italy’s Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte stated the country secured €400 billion to support businesses impacted by the coronavirus outbreak.
