Japan reports record 25,876 new COVID cases
The number of newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Japan jumped by a record 25,876 over the past 24 hours, data from the country’s health authorities showed on Friday.
Most of the new infections were registered in Tokyo, where 5,405 people tested positive.
The total number of confirmed coronavirus infections in the Asian country since the start of the pandemic now stands at 1,258,327, while the number of fatalities from the disease reached 15,591.
