Japan to ease border rules starting November 8

Japan will begin re-opening its borders on November 8, when business travelers possessing proof of vaccination will be allowed entry following a shortened 3-day quarantine, its government said on Friday.

Later this month, the limit to the number of entrants to the country will be raised from 3,500 to 5,000 people. In addition to business travelers, students and trainee workers with valid visas will be allowed entry, but there is no mention of developments regarding tourists.

Currently, Japan requires incoming travelers to go into a 10-day quarantine, accepting proof of inoculation with the Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca vaccines, while imposing a 14-day quarantine on unvaccinated travelers and those vaccinated with any other shot.
