JCPOA talks put off as EU official contracts COVID-19
The new round of discussions on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Actions (JCPOA) that was to take place on Wednesday in Vienna has been postponed as a member of the European Union’s delegation tested positive for COVID-19, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Tuesday, as quoted by the country’s media.
According to the reports, the meeting will instead take place on Thursday.
The news comes shortly after Iran announced it would start enriching its uranium by 60%. Earlier, the EU passed sanctions on Tehran’s officials over alleged human rights violations during the protests that took place in the country in 2019.
