Johnson to tell EU Brexit treaty never made sense – report
United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to tell the European Union on Tuesday the Brexit withdrawal treaty never made sense despite the two sides having agreed to it last year, the Telegraph reported.
The agreement that had passed the Parlament and was granted royal assent confirming UK’s departure from the bloc is “contradictory” on Northern Ireland, the prime minister will reportedly tell the Union. It would leave the region isolated from the rest of Britain due to the deal’s legal ambiguity, Johnson believes.
Reports suggested earlier the Cabinet plans to override the agreement made with Brussels in terms of state aid and Northern Ireland customs in new legislation set to be released Wednesday.
