Johnson: UK determined to strike trade deal with EU
United Kingdom’s Prime Minister Boris Johnson pointed out on Thursday that the British government is determined to reach a post-Brexit trade agreement with the European Union, according to a statement released by Downing Street.
He made the comment during today’s meeting with the Republic of Ireland’s Prime Minister Micheal Martin. The UK will not commit to the “level playing field” requirements that are not usually included in free trade agreements, like the one the EU had reached with Canada, Johnson also noted.
“The Prime Minister also underscored the UK’s commitment to meet our obligations under the Northern Ireland Protocol, as set out in the paper published in May,” the press release also revealed.
