Johnson warns Israel against West Bank annexation
United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson warned Israel on Wednesday against annexing Palestinian settlements in the West Bank.
“Annexation would represent a violation of international law,” Johnson said in an opinion piece for Ynetnews. “I profoundly hope that annexation does not go ahead. If it does, the UK will not recognize any changes to the 1967 lines, except those agreed between both parties,” he added.
Earlier, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to bring the annexation plan for a vote on July 1 but the announcement was met with protests in the country by both Jews and Arabs and received backlash from the European Union.
