Karabakh monitoring base finished by mid-January – Aliyev
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev asserted on Thursday that the joint Turkey-Russia monitoring center in Nagorno-Karabakh should be operational within the next two weeks.
During a meeting with Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar, Aliyev stressed that “the sooner the monitoring center starts operating, the better, because even though about two months have passed since the war ended, there are still threats and dangers… This monitoring center will be ready in the next 10 days – a maximum of two weeks,” he concluded.
Earlier this week, Akar revealed Turkey is prepared to send 36 officers to Nagorno-Karabakh once the construction of the joint center is completed, where they will join Russian troops in ensuring peace is respected in the disputed border region between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
