Kremlin: Russia to respond to latest US sanctions

On Thursday, the US Treasury Department announced it imposed new sanctions against five Russian individuals and one entity under the global Magnitsky Act, which authorizes the US government to penalize human rights abuses around the world.
The latest round of the Magnitsky Act sanctions targets the entire Terek Special Rapid Response Team (SOBR), a special police force unit of the National Guard of Russia operating in the Chechen Republic.
The sanctions also affect the team’s commander, Abuzayed Vismuradov.
Among the four other blacklisted individuals is the warden of Penal Colony IK-7 by the name of Sergey Leonidovich Kossiev.
