Lavrov: Russia to keep same course after election
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated on Friday Moscow intends to maintain the same course in international policies, focused on creating the “best external conditions for the country’s domestic development,” after the nation’s elections in September.
“The core interests of our country require us to resist [Western] provocations and follow our own path for decades and centuries to come. It is a policy that our people chose, and it will evolve after the election campaign comes to an end in September,” he said.
Lavrov recently accused the Western countries of trying to interfere in Russia’s forthcoming elections via their observers from the Council of Europe and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).
