Lavrov: US won’t abide by any decisions against its interest
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov (pictured) claimed on Friday that the United States doesn’t plan to uphold any decisions made by intergovernmental organizations if they go against its interests.
“Some say that the new US administration will be more inclined to return to international institutions but the current trend shows that even if the US rejoins some international organizations, the signal is clear that it is unwilling to abide by collective decisions that don’t fully reflect US interests, and such decisions are impossible to make,” the minister asserted.
As an example of the conduct, Lavrov cited Washington’s refusal to appoint any new judges to the World Trade Organization Appellate Body, stripping the court of quorum and making it “impossible to consider grievances against the US.”
