McConnell to vote to acquit Trump – reports
United States Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said on Saturday that he would vote to acquit former President Donald Trump in his impeachment trial.
In an email to his fellow Republicans, he said the decision was “a close call,” but insisted that impeachments should only be used to remove someone from office.
Trump is the first president in US history to be impeached twice and also the first president whose impeachment trial is taking place after he left office. Earlier, the Senate voted it was constitutional to hold an impeachment trial for a former president.
