Merkel: We need to learn living with COVID-19
Germany needs to find a way to live with the coronavirus until a vaccine can be developed, Germany Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Wednesday.
“There can be no false rush. We must learn to live with the virus until there is a vaccine,” Merkel said after announcing the government’s coronavirus social distancing measures have been extended until May 3. Meanwhile, major public events have been banned until August 31, the German leader said, as well as restaurants and bars until further notice.
The remainder of the German economy will start a gradual reopening on April 20, Merkel announced.
