Merkel: Will recommend tracking apps if they work
German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Wednesday she would recommend the usage of tracking apps in a bid to identify people who have been in contact with those infected by the coronavirus.
“If the testing of these apps shows them to be good and set to be successful in better tracing cases of where there has been contact, I’d certainly be in favor of recommending that to citizens,” Merkel said, adding that the usage would be on a voluntary basis.
Earlier in the day, Merkel said Germany will extend the lockdown until April 19 to prevent the further spreading of coronavirus.
