Migrants not to cross “dangerous” Aegean sea border – Erdogan
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan ordered the Turkish coastguard on Saturday to stop migrants from crossing the Aegean sea claiming it is “very dangerous.”
Earlier today, more than 1,700 migrants came near the land border with Greece after Erdogan said last week that Turkey would not prevent migrants from leaving for EU territory. The Turkish coastguard noted, however, that migrants can still leave through the land border.
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis warned yesterday that the migration pact between European Union and Turkey is “dead.” Also, EU’s foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell confirmed earlier today that the border between Turkey and Greece is closed.
