Moderna vaccine added use study halted – report
The study aimed at determining whether the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Moderna Inc. can curb the spread of the virus, in addition to preventing people from getting sick, has hit a roadblock and cannot continue as researchers couldn’t secure federal funding for the trial, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter.
Approximately 20,000 students were projected to take part in the study, which would also try to determine whether Moderna’s vaccine can “prevent infections that don’t trigger symptoms.”
The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved, for emergency use, Moderna’s jab earlier this month.
