NATO ‘faced with a new normal for our security’
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said on Sunday that the alliance is “faced with a new normal for our security,” adding that “there will be some long-term consequences and this is just the beginning of the adaptation that we need to do as a response to a much more aggressive Russia.”
In an interview with CNN, Stoltenberg said Russia’s decision to put nuclear deterrence forces on high alert is “irresponsible” and a “dangerous rhetoric.” He saluted the news of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, but noted that “it remains to be seen whether Russia is really willing to make some serious compromises and also to respect the sovereignty of Ukraine.”
