Netflix sets up $100M fund to help creative community
Netflix Inc. announced on Friday that the company set up a $100 million fund to assist the creative community amid the novel coronavirus-caused work stoppage.
“Most of the fund will go towards support for the hardest hit workers on our own productions around the world … This is in addition to the two weeks’ pay we’ve already committed to the crew and cast on productions we were forced to suspend last week,” Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos wrote in a press release.
He also specified that $15 million from the fund will be dedicated “to third parties and non-profits providing emergency relief” to staff and cast who lack work in countries where Netflix maintains great production capacity.
