NFL expands regular season to 17 games
The National Football League (NFL) announced on Tuesday it has decided to widen the regular season to 17 weeks starting from the 2021/2022 season.
The league opted to make the first change to the season structure since 1978. According to a statement released by the NFL, the official 2021 schedule is expected to be released later this spring.
“This is a monumental moment in NFL history. And one of the benefits of each team playing 17 regular-season games is the ability for us to continue to grow our game around the world,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell commented on the decision.
