Nokia expects 6G to be launched commercially by 2030
Finnish telecommunication company Nokia expects 6G systems to be launched for commercial use by 2030, according to a press release announcing the European Commission’s 6G initiative Hexa-X.
Hexa-X is the first official research initiative, aiming to accelerate and foster the 6G research so that the European Union can be the pioneer in the new 6G era. Apart from Hexa-X, Nokia is also involved in more European 6G initiatives, actively participating in the “development and deployment of the next-generation network technologies and services.”
Nokia’s Head of Access and Devices Research Peter Vetter claimed that “in the 6G era, we will see applications that will not only connect humans with machines but also connect humans with the digital world.” Vetter said that 6G could focus on supporting preventive healthcare, but also on improving the productivity of several other sectors.
