Number of COVID-19 cases tops 3.5M globally
The number of registered coronavirus cases worldwide has surpassed 3.5 million on Sunday, according to the Worldometer data. Around the same time, the global death toll hit 245,000.
The United States is strongly holding the top spot when it comes to the statistics, with over 33% of the total reported cases. On the other hand, virus outbreaks in Spain and Italy have passed the peak, as the countries are reporting smaller increases with each new day.
When it comes to the vaccine against the virus, the latest estimates suggest that, with some luck, the vaccine could be available by fall this year.
