Pound rises versus dollar after BoE’s interest rate vote
The British pound increased compared to the United States dollar on Thursday after the Bank of England voted to leave its interest rates unchanged at 0.1%.
Apart from the decision to maintain the same monetary policy, the BoE hinted that “some developments” that took place since its last Monetary Policy Committee meeting backed the need for a “modest tightening of monetary policy over the forecast period” in the medium term.
The pound jumped 0.62% versus the greenback at 1:30 pm CET, selling for 1.37040.
