Prosecutors inspect VW, Continental offices – report
Hanover public prosecutor’s office has been inspecting Volkswagen (VW) AG’s and Continental AG’s offices since morning, German business news magazine Wirtschaftswoche reported on Wednesday, citing a spokesperson for the authorities.
The search has been carried out in relation to the “dieselgate” scandal and the companies are suspected of “providing aid in fraud and indirect false certification” from 2006 to 2015, the report claimed. Both firms confirmed the presence of the authorities at their offices.
Allegedly, Continental was developing an injection system for Volkswagen that included the engine control software that had been used to cheat laboratory emissions testing and was the focal point of the “dieselgate” controversy. Three Continental executives are under investigation, according to the report.
