Report: Mnuchin wants more Americans to get aid
US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin believes the aid bill proposed by Senate Republicans should include direct payments to more individuals, media reports indicated on Friday, citing people close to the secretary.
In addition to including more people in the plan, Mnuchin apparently thinks that the amount of $1,200 per person is not enough, the sources with knowledge of the matter told Bloomberg News.
Mnuchin, on the other hand, proposed to give $1,000 per adult and $500 per child in two rounds.
The plan presented yesterday aims to give every American $1,200 and at the same time help passenger airlines and cargo air carriers with $50 billion and $8 billion, respectively.
