Rising COVID-19 cases in France ‘worrying’ – minister
French Health Minister Olivier Veran (pictured) expressed on Tuesday his concerns about the rising numbers of COVID-19 cases recorded in recent weeks, though he believes the country may avoid the second wave of the pandemic.
“The virus is still circulating quickly,” Veran told France Inter radio and added that the situation is “worrying,” even though the current slope shows a “lower reproduction factor for the virus than last spring.”
On Sunday, France recorded an increase of 7,071 number of people who tested positive for the coronavirus, which led to a widening of the state of high alert to more departments. A day later, the country recorded 4,203 new cases.
